La Partage and En Prison Rules
La Partage Rule
This rule lowers the house edge to 1.35%. If zero is spun then
all even chance bets lose half their original stake. This is a fair
rule, the zero is in the house favour where the numbers on the wheel
are concerned compared to the odds the Roulette game pay.
All UK land-based casinos use this rule to great effect. Online
casinos don’t. If you have bet on even chances and zero is
spun, then you lose the bet. This is because online casinos only
pay in multiples of £1; they don’t offer their customers
50 pence.
En Prison Rule
This rule also lowers the house edge to 1.35%. Quite a fair rule I would say regarding the zero and the odds paid. With this rule, if zero is spun, your even chance bet is given a second chance, your bet is placed in prison until the next spin and the game goes on as normal. If zero doubles on the next spin, you lose, if not you are paid accordingly.
