Omaha Poker

Omaha Poker is another popular poker game played all over the world and the Internet.

The rules are basically the same as Texas Holdem except for a few minor differences that add the whole excitement in Omaha Poker.

In Texas Holdem, the players are dealt two personal cards and three community cards. You use either one or two of your personal cards and any of the three community cards to make up a Poker hand. This is where Omaha Poker differs from Texas Holdem.

In Omaha, you are dealt four personal cards and three community cards. You can only use two of your personal cards to make up your hand with the community cards.

Your chances of getting a good hand are increased because you are dealt more personal cards but the only draw back is that, if you are dealt for example three queens you can only use two of them to make up your hand. This is what makes Omaha quite exciting and quite annoying also.

Before the game begins, the button is placed to which player will start the dealing process, after each game the dealer follows onto the next seated player clockwise. Also, the blind and big blind starts the betting. These players place their bets to the house limit and are situated straight after the person who is dealing the cards. The blind and big blinds must be placed to start the game and to make sure there is always money to be won in each game.

Omaha Poker is structured as follows :

1. Four cards are dealt to each player.
2. First round of betting begins.
3. Three community cards are dealt the first card being burned.
4. Second round of betting.
5. The forth community card is dealt, this is called the Turn.
6. Third round of betting.
7. The fifth community card is dealt, this is called the River.
8. Last round of betting
9. Highest hand wins the pot.
