Blackjack Article: Doubling your bet
All online casinos offer the player the chance to double their bet in blackjack on anything below 11. When the player is able to double their money in blackjack, it adds to the whole excitement, especially if they are high rollers. Imagine if a player had £100 on a box and they got the chance to double their bet, they would have wagered £200. Very exciting.
If the player decides to double their bet in blackjack then the casino will offer only one more card, this is why the player has to choose their doubles wisely. The player needs to hit the 'double your bet' button and the casino will place the bet for the player.
There are many internet Blackjack schools who have analysed this game and take interested players through hours of lessons but this is really not necessary. When doubling bets in Blackjack, players should realise that there is no sure fire solution but there are a few things they need to take into account.
Most online casinos allow their players double their money on anything below 11. I believe this to be a good way of the casino taking an advantage over the players. With the player only being allowed one card, what is the use of doubling their money when they have a low card?
For example, the player has a 2. They draw a 10. They now have 12. With only 1 card they can’t go any further. This is a bad double in Blackjack.
With my experience, I would advise the player to only double their bet in Blackjack if they have 9, 10 or 11. The odds say the player will draw a 10 or a picture and with only one card they stand to get a good hand. Also, the player should only double in Blackjack when the dealer has a 7 or lower. If the dealer has a high card then they shouldn’t double. Their chances of winning are very fine. Basically the lower the dealer's card, the better the double in Blackjack.
The way my advice works is simple; there are more 10's and pictures than any other cards. The probabilities in Blackjack of the dealer going bust if he holds a low card are high.
